Harlem Expresso is a family owned and operated business. A few years ago Tony Plzak decided to follow his passion for food and enrolled in baking classes at Kendall College. He had always enjoyed cooking with his grandmother, and now wanted to pursue a career in that field. While he was earning his baking and pastry certificate he worked at various food establishments like Ditka's in Oak Brook. Once he had some experience under his belt, he followed his dream again and opened Harlem Expresso. Anyone that visits the coffee shop can see that he is very passionate about what he does. His baking is always out of this world (as his grandmother would say), and he loves to pass on his knowledge to his 2 oldest girls, and looks forward to the day when his twins are old enough to bake with him too.He loves to please his customers, and has taken up chess because of one of his customers. You can visit on any given day to either watch a game, or challenge him or his mentor to a game. He has taught his kids this passion too and longs for the day that they may beat him.
